Looking to develop your skills and experience within the sports coaching industry? Want opportunities to observe excellent coaches deliver a range of sessions? We are always looking for proactive and passionate coaches at the beginning of their coaching journeys!!
To join our holiday clubs on placement or work experience, we require coaches to either hold or be working towards certain courses, have a set amount of experience and to be available at set times. Please note we do not take on any work experience or placement students during school term time and only have a set amount of availability to take on placement coaches every half term, Easter and Summer!
Placement Staff
A voluntary placement with Total Sports is designed to up skill coaches at the start of their coaching journeys with the view of offering paid work after a set amount of time. Placement coaches are provided with a work book with set tasks to tick off, planned observations and meetings to discuss progress. Voluntary placements can last a week, 2 weeks or up to a year depending on how placement staff are progressing and feedback on observations. The main aim of a placement is to provide opportunities for new coaches to up skill with the support of experienced staff and to gain valuable experience!
To join our placement programme, one or more of the following must apply to you;
- Be aged 18 or over
- Be currently working towards a university degree in a sports coaching field
- Have some lead coaching experience on your CV (For example-Have coached a football team once a week for an hour for the past year)
- Be working towards a career in the sports coaching industry.
- Have some form of childcare experience
Work Experience
Work experience with Total Sports is designed to expose young coaches to as many opportunities to learn and develop. Throughout your work experience you will be paired with an experienced coach and you will observe their sessions. You will be asked to help with some tasks around camp such as organising equipment, supporting extended hours and general tasks required by the coach. With our work experience staff, there is no timeline placed on advancing to paid work with work experiences designed to suit young coaches with some experience.
To join our work experience programme, one or more of the following must apply to you;
- Be aged 17 or over
- Be currently studying a sports related course at college or university
- Have some coaching experience (For example-Supported football sessions once a week for an hour)
- Have a strong interest in a sports coaching career
